Your Children Want You

One of my friends posted a link to this article, "Your Children Want YOU!", on her facebook page this morning. It is an article I was definitely needing to read, and wish I could have read right around Clayton's birthday party when I was having my mini-melt down for not having everything as perfect as I had planned. I was sitting there last night, totally wiped out, hugely pregnant, and cursing myself for not having done Clayton's 12 month birthday post yet. I can't wait to write down all of his milestones........ and yet, then I realize... He won't care if it is done March 31st or April whatever.... he will, hopefully, later in life, treasure the fact that I wrote them to begin with. I realize that, as the article says, social media and the internet can put such a strain onto mothers to be perfect and to be just as "motherly" and awesome as all other moms... when in fact it's quite the opposite! Clayton will not care that I bought his Easter basket at Walmart instead of making a monogrammed one myself..... as long as I am a good mother to him and his sister (and future siblings!) then that is all that will matter.

Time to stop and realize what is really important in life..... Enjoy the day, for this is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it! =) (One of my favorite songs btw!)

  1. I read that article this morning too! I think we all get wrapped up in how we're not a good mom, when in reality we really ARE! We LOVE our kids, and they actually KNOW it! :):):) Don't be so hard on yourself if you don't get top of the line, or write down every milestone, etc. You're a great mom!

  2. Cute article. It's a TOUGH balance with it all and yes, in the end, they don't remember or know when you wrote what or what their party looked like. I joke with Evan that sometimes that isn't necessarily for them, but for ME to look back on too! haha. Right now, your goal just needs to be to SURVIVE. Seriously. You have PLENTY on your plate.
